Tarpon Springs

Tarpon Springs is a historic coastal city in Pinellas County situated on the Anclote River and the Gulf, known as the “Sponge Capital of the World” for its Greek sponging diving heritage, evident in this vibrant Greek culture and on the famous Dodecanese Boulevard.  You will find Greek restaurants, bakeries and Greek shops filled with Greek themed items.  It’s almost like being in Greece.  The city boasts the largest Greek community in the United States, which is evident in its authentic restaurants and festivals. The city was incorporated in 1887 and played a significant role in the sponge industry.  Visit St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church known for its stained glass and marble altar.
